The Martial Arts
The Martial Arts are more than sport, more than tournament fighting, more than self defense. When taught right, they’re a way of life that combines philosophical insight with physical training to create mentally strong and independent individuals who can fight frailty and weakness, as well as internal enemies like doubt, insecurity and stress. – Kim Soo Hall of Fame Black Belt
I thought this quote covers most of what we try to accomplish at Coronado Training Center. Our goal is develop quality individuals who improve society. Plus receive the added bonus of being able to properly defend themselves- Sa Bom Nim – Chief Instructor – Dan Boyle
Kicking & Punching Power
Myth: He/she is so big that’s why they can kick or punch so powerfully.
Fact: The most power kicks and punches are the result of proper technique, speed, use of hips, torso, foot position, upper/lower body working together.
The hardest I have ever been hit was by a taller much lighter fighter with excellent technique and amazing speed.
I often notice many of my teenage or early 20′s male students trying to muscle their movements. The only thing it truly accomplishes is fatigue. Sparring/fighting must be relaxed with tension only at point of connection. Learn to breathe properly, break down your technique and add speed for a winning recipe.
St Patty’s Dress Up Day
We will continue our tradition of a green dress up day in honor of ST. Patrick’s Day. Students can wear a green t-shirt instead of their normal Tae Kwon Do top. Coolest green shirt wins a prize! Show your creative, fun side. We will have the dress up day on Friday March 16th.
Great Tae Kwon Do Testing
I am extremely proud of the efforts of all our students who tested last night. However, the nights highlight was Owen H. & Dylan S. testing for their red belt with 2 black stripes. Their Black Belt tests will be Saturday April 7, 2012. They showed continued development in all required areas. Intense sparring, high flying board breaks and precise movements in their poomsae (forms). Congrats! – Sa Bom Nim Mr. Dan Boyle
